Still looking for a way to keep the kids active this summer? If your little ones (and maybe you yourself) have been missing football season, we've got good news! Trinity Christian Academy is giving away a free, one-week pass to a Little Trojan Football Camp. Camp starts next Monday, June 21, and there are separate sessions for grade-school tykes (grades 3-5) and older folks (grades 6-8). Campers will learn fundamental football skills from Trojan coaches and participate in competitions every day.

Before You Lose the Booster Seat ...

If you think your child is ready to lose his booster seat, be wary of Texas' new booster-seat law—if not, starting this month you could be ticketed for not meeting state standards. Children must sit in a booster seat until they are either 8 years old or taller than 4 feet, 9 inches (and, of course, they must also always wear a seat belt).

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration advises parents to check the following before allowing their child to ride in the car sans booster seat:

Child must be able to sit with back and hips all the way against the back of the car's seat (without slouching).
Child must be able to bend knees over the edge of the seat and keep feet flat on the floor.
The child's seat belt must cross over his shoulder and the middle of his chest (not neck) and fit snugly over his hips (not stomach).
The car's headrest must also be high enough to support the child's head.

The state's law was amended in September 2009, but starting this month fines will be issued.

Adventurists young and old will go wild at this weekend's Main Street Outdoor Adventure festival in Grapevine. Try your skills at quad bungee jumping, scuba diving, kayaking, carnival rides, a kids zone, interactive gaming and much more—all inclusive to kids! Additionally, families can ooh and ahh at the sight of BMX stunt riders, music performances, Heritage gunfighters and the Skyriders trampoline show.

I don't know about you, but thinking about all of these activities makes me hungry! The festival will satiate your craving for carnival foods (read: funnel cakes!) and hot-off-the-grill fare. Adults can even partake in wine and beer tastings.

If you haven't read my monthly column in RealMoms, then I'm about to spoil the surprise. Moroccanoil, a product that yours truly now uses daily and can't do without, is currently the hottest thing at hair salons. When I visited mine a couple months back, both the stylists, colorist AND clients were raving about it and telling me I MUST buy it. I thought it was a little strong of a push and wondered what could be in this miracle oil that made each and every one of them gush over it.

Giving into peer pressure (with a slight curiosity I'll admit to), I tried it, loved it and can't be without it. And apparently, Scarlett Johansson is a fan too. Her curly hair was oiled up (I use that term loosely, it doesn't take much), curled up and pinned up for her Iron Man 2 international premiere (which complemented her Armani Privé dress to a "t" might I add).

Workin' Hard for the Money?

Growing up, my parents graciously gave both my brother and I a weekly allowance: $10 at about age 10. But we had to work hard for that Friday "paycheck." We made our beds daily (ahem, nearly daily!), fed our pet guinea pig and hamster (when we weren't racing them against each other) and more—I even remember cleaning the leaves out of the pool with a net (I thought this was the coolest chore of all!). I wish I had equally vivid memories of what I bought with my hard-earned cash ....

The Waterslide-A-Thon is open to the public from 10pm Fri-9am Sat. You and your family can take as many trips down the slide for a mere $5 per person sans hotel stay. While you won't have full access to the park, visitors will be able to slide down the River Canyon Run as many times as desired. Each trip down the slide (for kids 42 inches and taller) counts toward the Great Wolf Lodge's aspiration of breaking the Guinness World Record for "Longest Distance Water Sliding in 24 Hours."
